About :
Welcome to another installment of #everybodyneedsabitofscienza. Class is in session! If you ever wanted to know about native Italian grapes, soil, terroir, or pretty much anything wine-related, Scienza is your man! He is the most knowledgeable guy we know, but he is also humble and very kind, he loves to impart all he knows to anyone who is interested – he is like an encyclopedia of knowledge, so, listen in and learn – he is also a lot of fun too!

International Masi Civilta’ Del Vino Prize.
The origins of the Masi Prize are to be found in the reflections about regional identity shared by three Veronese friends at the end of the 1970s: Sandro Boscaini, president of Masi Agricola, the writer Cesare Marchi and the journalist Giovanni Vicentini.

The International Masi Civiltà del Vino Prize turns its attention to the wider world of international winemaking and is given to the person who has done most to benefit this ancient art in a ceremony which takes place usually during the harvest period, the happiest and most important time for Valpolicella and for the rest of the wine world too.

If you want to learn more about the Professore:
The one who checks all the facts and regulates when we mistakenly type “Verdicchio” in place of “Vermentino.” Attilio Scienza is a full professor at the University of Milan in the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences where he teaches courses on genetic improvements to the vine; he also teaches Viticulture in the Master’s program of the University of Turin in Asti. He has been the lead for many national research projects in the field of physiology, agricultural techniques, and vine genetics. He was recently awarded the prestigious Civilta’ del Vino Prize, presented by Fondazione Masi. As the author of over 350 publications on vine and viticulture in national and international journals, you can bet he knows his stuff!
