Plum wine making is quite simple and only takes around 2 weeks to make from start to finish. With this plum wine recipe I found that the wine was quite strong so you could use less sugar if you want to.

How to make delicious plum wine at home:
First, pour 2 pints of boiling water over the plums and leave overnight.

The next day add 2 pints of boiling water over the sugar and stir until dissolved. Now add to plums and top up with another 4 pints of cold water.

Next add everything else to the mixture, stir well and leave for 2 days.

After 2 days, strain off the wine and add 1/2 tsp of pectolase, stir in and leave for another 7 days to finish fermenting.

When the wine is done fermenting syphon off into a clean bucket, leave for a couple of days and then syphon off again.

Now the wine is finished. You might want to leave for longer if it isn’t clear but mine was ready straight away.

Ingredient:
1.5 kg Plums
250 ml grape concentrate (250g sultanas would be fine)
1 kg sugar
1 lemon
1.5 tsp pectolase
1 tsp Yeast nutrient
1 tsp Yeast
1 cup of cold tea (tannin)
